Fairash Farm

Fairash is a stunning conversion of a former poultry farm in the Somerset Countryside into two magnificent ‘Grand Design’ eco-homes.

Two of the original five timber framed sheds are being retained and re-imagined to form two complimentary, low energy courtyard houses.

Each house will feature five bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a large open-plan living area with fantastic views across the open countryside towards Chew Valley Lake. Remnants of the central sheds are used to create ancillary parking barns and separate live-work studios.

The homes are timber clad on timber frame, with new roof trusses in timber and stainless steel. The structure allows for a combination of large picture windows and roof lanterns to give maximum light to the interior. They will have high levels of insulation and airtightness to minimise energy demand. Heating and ventilation will be controlled using mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) alongside air source heat pumps (ASHP). Energy demand is further reduced by the roof mounted solar PV panels

The project, by Whitecroft Developments, is currently under construction, due for completion by end of 2020.
