Addition of a contemporary, timber clad garden room extension to this previously converted barn in Flax Bourton. The fully glazed sliding doors flood the interior with natural light and greatly improve the relationship with the garden, giving views out to the open countryside beyond. A highly insulated building envelope means this space can be enjoyed year round.

Internally, new structural openings have been formed to create an open plan kitchen/ dinging area which now flows seamlessly through to the new garden room. A new oak framed window seat was installed in the kitchen, adding yet more light into the space and providing an additional cosy seating area.

A second aspect to this project was extending an existing outbuilding, situated within the grounds, to provide a new double garage. The garage has been sympathetically and seamlessly integrated with the outbuilding and clad in featheredge larch board. The modest external appearance belies the intricate craftsmanship of the green oak frame structure inside.
