We have been working closely with Energy Transitions Ltd since 2016, to assist in development of a renewable-energy generating cladding system, branded Steel Zero
Having found the practice through our work with Solarsense, we were initially engaged to design a prototype café, coined Coffee Zero, that exhibited the next-generation transpired solar collector cladding on a unique structure.
The innovative solar collector absorbs solar radiation, which is harnessed and transported in a void behind, providing both zero-carbon heat and an attractive, long-lasting façade.
The process highlighted that detailed resolution of the stainless-steel cladding was required.  Funded through BEIS by the Government, attention was focused on the development of various cladding profiles, considering the physical and regulatory implications of deploying them to the market in the UK.
The practice designed the exhibition space for Futurebuild, assisting our client to engage with architects, engineers, homeowners and developers.
We have spent recent months undertaking detailed prototyping work, expected to culminate in a revised working prototype at the end of the year.
