Today Emmaus Bristol Celebrated the Grand Opening of their new premises at Backfields House with a large group of supporters, friends and companions. The new shop and workspace facility was opened by Sir Terry Waite, CBE.
Guests at the event were welcomed by Mr Waite, a long-term supporter of Emmaus, Emmaus Bristol Chief Executive Richard Pendlebury MBE DL and HM Lord Lieutenant Mrs Mary Prior MBE JP, before enjoying a tour around the new premises.
The building, at the end of our lane in Stokes Croft has undergone a £440k renovation to allow all staff and companions to work together under one roof, a big change from the organisation’s previous premises in St Philips, which were described as ‘cold, old and disjointed’.
The 17,000 sq ft property encompasses the two-floor shop, boasting both vintage and retro goods and good quality second-hand items, offices and a warehouse area where collections and deliveries can be made.
