Team visit to Hanham Hall

July 14, 2014 chris askew
Hanham Hall

Last week the team took time out along with Sam Goss of Barefoot Architecture for a site visit to Hanham Hall, Barratt Homes substantial ecohome development on the outskirts of Bristol.

Construction is SIPS panels, using Kingspan TEK -Paul Newman of Kingspan was kind enough to show us round.

Originally designed to Code for Sustainable Homes level six, the scheme has since been downgraded to level five, but is nonetheless impressive given the large number of units being constructed to tight standards.

We had some useful discussions on achieving airtightness standards alongside robust detailing for acoustics and of course achieving fire separation. Other topics include resolving duct routes for the mechanical ventilation heat recovery system.
