We haven't posted an update for a while, so here is a summary of some of our recent news.

Work is underway on the headquarters for the Soil Association. The charity has bought an interesting building in the centre of Bristol, and we are working on designs for its renovation and fit out. Key to this project will be the application of principles of a healthy working environment -fresh air, climate control, daylight and use of natural non polluting materials. This week Chris attended the quarterly staff gathering to describe the initial thoughts and ideas. The event was rounded of by an inspirational talk from environmental activist Satish Kumar and a shared lunch.

Meanwhile, we are really happy to hear that our client, The Green House has been successful in their proposal to Bristol City council for the purchase of St Agnes Lodge in St Pauls. This is a rather elegant Victorian Lodge that has been in use for a number of years as a community building, and the former home to St Pauls Unlimited. The Green House is a local charity providing counselling services to victims of sexual abuse and will be entering an agreement with the City to ensure an ongoing community use.

Almost simultaneously with this, Meadowvale Community Centre were successful in their bid for a Community Asset Transfer of their building from the city council. With both planning permission and ownership of the building secured, work continues on fundraising for the project, with a dinner organised by Bristol Rotary on the theme of an "Evening with Motty" where guest speaker John Motson also hosted an auction of sporting goods and memorabilia.

And finally.........planning approval has at last been granted for the conversion of Staunton Manor Farm in Whitchurch into eight unique new homes for Whitecroft Developments. The long delay was due to finalising the S106 legal agreement between the council, BANES and the adjoining owners, Bellway Homes in respect of the shared site access.
